Empowering Youth: Funding Boost for Mental Health Support in North Belfast

Horizon Project's Expansion:
The Horizon Project in North Belfast has secured a substantial funding increase that will significantly enhance its critical support services for young individuals in need. This funding injection, amounting to £10,000, has been made available through the Young Gamechangers Fund (YGF) and will enable the provision of 333 hours of trauma-informed counseling at no or minimal cost to those who lack access to essential mental health services. Urgent Youth Mental Health Support:
The prevalence of mental health challenges among young people in Northern Ireland is a growing concern, with alarming rates of anxiety, depression, and suicide. The Horizon Project is actively working to address these issues by ensuring that young individuals receive the necessary care and intervention well before they reach a crisis point. Caoimhin Mac an Ultaigh, representing The Horizon Project, underlined the significance of this initiative, highlighting the importance of early support for young people to prevent mental health crises. The Horizon Project's approach focuses on early intervention and community-based support to make a lasting impact on the mental well-being of the youth. Empowering Young Leaders:
The Young Gamechangers Fund, which is a collaborative effort involving Co-op Foundation, Co-op, the #iwill Fund, Restless Development, and the Global Fund For Children, aims to empower young people to address critical challenges within their communities through grassroots initiatives. The funding allocated to The Horizon Project is part of a broader initiative supporting 100 youth-led projects across the UK. By prioritizing community-based solutions and early intervention, The Horizon Project is working towards a sustainable improvement in youth mental health.
