Engaging Young Minds: NIFRS Visits Schools to Safeguard Black Mountain

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service visited a number of primary schools in West Belfast this week in an engagement initiative around fires on the Black Mountain.
Community Effort to Safeguard Black Mountain
The Upper Springfield Community Development Team organized this effort with a strong stance against the damaging fires that have troubled the Black Mountain region. Young individuals had the opportunity to interact with local firefighters, expressing their concerns and commitment to protect this vital natural space.
Environmental Awareness Program for the Next Generation
The initiative included partnering with four local primary schools to educate students on the importance of environmental responsibility and the preservation of Black Mountain. The goal is to inspire a new generation that values and cares for this cherished heritage site.
Collective Call to Action
The message from the community and the young students is clear: the Black Mountain is a treasure that deserves protection from all members of society. By instilling a culture of care and vigilance, the initiative aims to ensure the safety and preservation of this unique natural environment.
