Stormont Issues Reminder on Eligibility for Rates Relief in Northern Ireland

A reminder has been issued by Stormont this week for people who may be entitled to help with their rates bill.

Rates bills in Northern Ireland
Bills began to be issued to properties and businesses earlier this month, with almost £1.6 billion collected in rates last year for public services.

Housing Benefit and Rate Relief
The Department of Finance at Stormont has highlighted that Housing Benefit and Low Income Rate Relief may be available to eligible individuals who are not eligible for Universal Credit.

Application and Eligibility
Individuals of pension age or on low incomes can apply for Housing Benefit, Rate Relief, or Rate Rebate to help pay their rates.
