Alert: Severe Weather Warning for Parts of Northern Ireland

Weather warnings have been issued for two specific areas of Northern Ireland with forecasters expecting possible flooding of homes and businesses.
Prolonged Rainfall Warning
A warning for a prolonged spell of rain is in place from 2pm today through to 3pm tomorrow. The warning covers much of the Glens area in Co Antrim and a swath of land including Newcastle, Kilkeel, and Warrenpoint in Co Down. Areas such as Belfast are not included in the territory covered by the warning issued by the Met Office.
Impacts and Precautions
According to the Met Office, flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible. Public transportation services may be affected, resulting in longer journey times. Expect spray and flooding on roads, potentially leading to extended travel times. Furthermore, some interruptions to power supplies and other services are also possible.
Heavy Rainfall Forecast
A spell of persistent, and at times heavy, rain is expected to develop today and last well into Saturday. Rainfall amounts are likely to range from 20 to 40 mm widely, with higher ground expected to receive 50 to 75 mm and localized spots possibly experiencing over 75 mm.
