Breakthrough Arrest in Cold Case Murder of Journalist

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Martin O’Hagan after a 24-year investigation. Historical Murder Case: Mr O’Hagan was killed by loyalist paramilitaries in Lurgan, Co Armagh in 2001, yet no one has been successfully prosecuted for the crime. The PSNI confirmed that a 42-year-old man was apprehended in Sheffield with the help of Counter Terrorism Policing North East and South Yorkshire Police. He is now in custody in Northern Ireland for questioning. Calls for Justice: Amnesty International’s Northern Ireland Director emphasized the significance of this arrest, noting the lack of accountability in O’Hagan's case has fostered an environment of impunity for those targeting journalists. Last September, the UK government was urged to launch an independent inquiry into the journalist's murder. Stay updated by visiting the latest developments on this case.
