Easyjet's Humiliation of a Breastfeeding Mother

A breastfeeding mother has blasted easyJet over a 'humiliating' experience where she was informed of extra charges for carrying breast milk and pumping equipment on her flight.

Incident at Bristol Airport

Daisy Crawford recounted feeling humiliated by easyJet staff at Bristol Airport who showed 'no understanding' and remained 'stony faced' during the security process.

The Ordeal

During the incident on April 27, Ms. Crawford, a 40-year-old mother of three, flew from Bristol to Belfast and faced a £50 fine for carrying pumped breast milk. Despite explaining her situation, she was told she had 'no choice' but to pay the fine.

Distress and Demands

Staff made no attempt to comprehend her situation, even though the breast milk was for her premature baby and was deemed vital. The mother was compelled to remove clothes from her bag to accommodate the milk and pump without paying extra fees.

Regulations and Resentment

Ms. Crawford, who had researched regulations beforehand, felt frustrated by the inconsistency in easyJet's handling of her breastfeeding equipment. She questioned the fairness of expecting her to compromise her baggage allowance for essential medical equipment.

Discrimination Allegations

She perceived discrimination in the treatment she received due to her breastfeeding needs, which could raise her travel costs unfairly.

Government's Stance

Contrary to easyJet's actions, the government allows breast milk in hand luggage even without a baby present, as long as individual containers are no more than 2,000ml each.

Apology from easyJet

An easyJet representative later apologized for the incident, expressing regret for the distress caused to Ms. Crawford and acknowledging that the service level was below expectations.
